I don’t have any personal experience (beyond being very impressed with the success of the idea) but read a quick article from Guy Kawasaki The Six Lessons of Kiva that includes a bit about his experience and views on the whole process. He also links to an article about the organization and those behind it. It might get the ball rolling for you. They’ve gotten quite a bit of press as well, but this is the most recent I’ve run across. good luck.
