I’d look at it and try to take it apart. If this was easy, then install the new one (which you’d pre-bought, of course). Couldn’t do it yourself? Bring the new one to a shop and have the mechanic do it. It’s just a tail-light – so what’s the worst case scenario? Driving without a taillight to the shop? It’s broken anyway, may as well try this Bon chance.
