Aspirin will thin the blood and make it less likely to clot. Have you used aspirin of late? You may also have cut into an artery that was bring fresh blood to that part of your hand, and fresh blood from the lungs may be less likely to clot than, say, blood from a vein (blood returning to the heart and lungs.) To stop bleeding, you must apply pressure DIRECTLY to the wound, so don’t rely on an elastic (band-aid) to get the job done.
