Why do we say there is a finite number of elements in the universe?

1 Answer

Answer :

A little more than 100 different elements have been discovered(naturally or synthesized in particle accelerators). The moremassive elements are all radioactive and have progressively shorterhalflives as the mass of their atoms increases. Elements havealready been synthesized that exist for such a short time aftertheir formation that they cannot be detected directly, only by theproducts of their decay to less massive and more stableelements. At some point it is simply not going to even be possible forelements whose Atomic Mass is greater than some amount to evenexist.
