How to Reduce Pimple Redness
As you wake up one day, you are horrified to find a monstrous zit sitting on your face. You can apply ointments and creams to help it clear up, but what disturbs you the most is how big and red it looks. Don’t fret, because there are several ways to reduce pimple redness.
What You’ll Need:
Aspirin
Ice cubes
Ice drop
Regular toothpaste
Tomato or cucumber juice
Facial soap and water
Clean towel
The Aspirin Method
Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory, and while we commonly ingest it to soothe headaches, you can also use it to lessen your pimple’s unpleasant redness. Here’s what you should do.
Get a clean plate and a hard object you can use for crushing, such as your cleanser cap. A mortar and pestle will work great too.
Pound one aspirin, until it has a fine dust consistency.
Mix the aspirin with a few drops of water, until you get a thick and gritty paste. You can use a toothpick or a q-tip to mix them.
Put the paste on your face, covering the whole pimple. Let it sit overnight. The next day, the pimple won’t be as big as it was before.
You can also use aspirin to make a facial mask. Crush several tablets, and mix with water and other ingredients, like honey. Spread all over your face.
The Toothpaste Tactic
Toothpaste is one of the surprising, but effective remedies used for pimple redness treatment today. Wash you face first with water and facial soap, then pat dry. Then, put a small amount of regular toothpaste (not the gel-form) all over the pimple, covering it completely. Leave it there overnight. The following morning, the swelling will disappear. Toothpaste also prevents oil from accumulating near your pimple, helping it heal quicker.
Using Ice Cubes And Eye Drops
If the pimple is reddish and hot, it might do some good to cool it down. You can use ordinary ice cubes and eyedrops to help solve your problem. Here’s how.
Get a small plastic bag and wrap an ice cube inside of it. Put this directly over the pimple, being very careful not too pop it, or the pus will come out.
Hold the ice cube over your pimple for two to three minutes.
When you remove it, squeeze a few drops of eyedrop solution over the pimple. This will clear the redness.
Let the eyedrop solution dry for a few minutes. The pimple will be less reddish than it was before. If you need to go out, and you want to hide the redness, you can add some makeup concealer over the pimple.
If the redness comes back, repeat the process.
Juice For The Skin
They say eating tomatoes and cucumbers is great in getting clear complexion. This is true, but do you know putting these on your pimple can also help heal it? Just apply either fresh tomato juice or cucumber juice all over your face. Make sure the pimple is covered with it adequately, to cut down redness effectively.
Apple cider vinegar also does wonders for your skin. Just apply it all over your face like an astringent.
Some Tips:
Always wash your face before trying any of these methods. Use lukewarm water and facial soap, then dry with a clean towel.
Don’t squeeze the pimple. Not only will it heal slower, it can also become infected and will cause scarring.
Don’t apply ice too long on your skin. It can damage the skin cells.
A big red pimple can be a pain, but you don’t have to stress about it, because it’ll eventually go away. In the meantime, try these tactics to lessen the redness, so it won’t be so obvious.
