Radiation: Radiation is transfer of energy through space by electromagnetic waves. If radiation is passing through empty space, it is not transformed into other forms of energy, nor is it diverted from its path. If matter appears in its path, the radiation will be transmitted, absorbed or reflected. It is only the absorbed energy that appears as heat. Example: Loss of heat from unlagged pipe.
