There is not a single person in this world that does not have good days and bad days. On a good day, a person is happy, well-adjusted and easy to get along with. On a bad day, a person is temperamental, short and easily agitated. Everyone has good and bad days; fortunately for most people, the good days far outweigh the bad and the bad days are few and far between. Unfortunately, there are people in the world that suffer good and bad days just like everyone else, only the highs and lows of those good and bad days are escalated and exceptionally emotional for them. People that experience intense highs and lows and transition from one to the other in an instant suffer from a disease called bi-polar disorder. This is a disease that is in the manic depression family and it is hereditary. The intensity of these highs and lows is so severe that it renders people incapable of living a normal life.A person with bi-polar disorder might be the happiest person on earth, talking about a cookie from the bakery as if though it is the winning lottery ticket for millions of dollars. The excitement felt by a simple cookie is enough to make a bi-polar person feel exuberant. However, in an instant, that cookie might fall to the ground and a bi-polar person will fall into a fit of complete rage, quit his job, leave his spouse and use every credit card in his wallet until he no longer has available credit. Symptoms of bi-polar disorder are hereditary and tend to begin to show in a person's teenage years, which is something that is often misdiagnosed as typical teenage angst. This is a problem because bi-polar disorder is easily treatable so that a person with it can live a perfectly normal life with the proper medication. Symptoms of bi-polar disorder are people that experience extreme depression or extreme mania or a combination of both.If you think you or someone you know is suffering from bi-polar disorder it is imperative you contact a doctor right away. There is help for this disease if you ask for it.
