I give myself a quick pat on the back and move on to the next project. Of course, I take the time to figure out what helped me succeed and use that experience to help me the next time. This prospective employee takes appropriate pride in his success but also believes in the old adage “Don’t rest on your laurels.” He also learns from his experience.
Never Say: “I make sure everyone knows about it. If I don’t brag about my own success, then who will?” That’s true, but there are more subtle ways of getting the word out. Besides, if he’s so busy bragging, who’s doing all his work?
