It's not just a BLT, and it's certainly not your average burger. It's a savory-spiced patty topped with bacon, avocado, and mayonnaise (and yes, with the classic lettuce and tomatoes!), all tucked inside a burger bun. One bite, and you'll never have a plain burger again.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon oil
1 Vidalia onion, thinly sliced
1 pound ground chuck
3 tablespoons minced fresh basil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
4 thick hamburger buns, lightly toasted
¼ cup mayonnaise
12 slices fresh avocado
12 cooked bacon slices
4 thick slices fresh tomato
1 cup shredded lettuce
Directions:
1. Preheat and lightly grease a grill.
2. Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium-low; add onions and cook until golden and extremely soft, stirring occasionally, 15 to 20 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, combine beef, basil, vinegar, salt, pepper, and cayenne in a large bowl; mix well with hands. Form into 4 round patties. Place on grill and cook until desired doneness, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
4. To assemble sandwiches, spread 1 tablespoon mayonnaise over top of each bun; on bottom bun, arrange lettuce, one burger, 1 slice tomato, 3 slices avocado, and 3 slices bacon. Replace top hamburger bun and serve warm.
