There are two types of polarization when praying in congregation with hands raised. Some people think it is a part of prayer. And some call it najaiz and bidat. But both ideas are wrong. The truth is , it is only a mustahab act , but it is not a part of the prayer. So exaggeration is absolutely inappropriate. Some hadiths in this regard: 1. Narrated from Hazrat Salman Farsi (RA ) . The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said , Allaah is Merciful , the Giver. When the servant extends the hand of prayer before him, he is ashamed to return it to nothing. (Jami 'Tirmidhi , 2/195) It is understood from the hadith that if one prays with one's hands up, it is more likely to be accepted. 2. Abu Muhammad Ibn Abi Yahya (R) said , Rait Abdullah bin Al-Zubayr and Ra'i Rajla Rafa'a Yadiya before these Yafragh from Salatah, Filma Fargha Minha Qal: In Rasoolullah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not raise Yadiyah even Yafragh from Salatah. Abdullah ibn Zubayr (ra) saw a person praying , raising his hands before praying. He told her that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not raise his hands before the prayer. ( Majmauz Jawaid , 10/179) It is understood from this hadith that Rasulullah (peace be upon him) used to pray after raising his hands. 3. Narrated from Hazrat Salman (RA), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said : When some people raise their hands and ask Allaah for something, Allaah will surely grant them what they ask for. ( Majma'uz Jawaid , 10/179) It is clear from this hadith that when some people pray in the court of Allah, it is more likely to be accepted. 4. Narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him ) . قال: جوف الليل الآخر ، و دبر الصلوات المکتوبات The Companions , may Allah be pleased with them , asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which prayer is more acceptable ? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said : The last night's prayer and the last prayer of the obligatory prayer. (Jami 'Tirmidhi , 2/18) It is understood from this hadith that the prayer is accepted at the end of the prayer.
