All praise is due to Allah. If he gives charity on behalf of another, it is not obligatory to inform that person about the charity. In the same way, it is not a condition to be charitable only on behalf of a close relative. Rather, it is permissible to give charity on behalf of any relative or non-relative. In the book 'Nailul Maabir B Sharhi Dalilit Talib' (1/237) it is stated that if a Muslim does good deeds for a living or dead Muslim, he will be rewarded by sacrificing his reward. Although he is a Muslim he does not know who did the good for him. Such good deeds include dua and istigfar. Concluded Sheikh bin Baz (R) said: If you give charity for the sake of parents or someone else, it is accepted and gives benefits. Therefore , there are many benefits in charity for both the living and the dead. Finished Nurun (14/303) from Alad Darb] Allah knows best.
