It is obligatory to stand and pray. وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ 'Stand humbly before Allah.' (Surah Baqarah 236). The person who is unable to stand will pray while sitting. It is not obligatory for him to stand and pray. In this case, the key is Hazrat Imran bin Hussain. Narrated from , he said I had hemorrhoids. So I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) about prayer (its method). He said , " Stand up and pray , if you can't afford it, sit down. " If you are not able to do that, then lie down. ' (Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 1118) Ibn Kudamah. The Ahl al - Ilm agree that the person who is unable to perform the prayer while standing will perform the prayer while sitting. (Al-Mughni 1/443) From the above discussion it is clear that it is permissible for a person who is unable to stand to perform the obligatory prayer. If a person performs the obligatory prayers even after being able to stand, his prayers will be canceled. The question is , in case of any illness, it will be permissible to perform the obligatory prayers. That is, will it be permissible to offer the obligatory prayers because of a slight weakness or illness, or will it be permissible to offer the prayers only when one is unable to stand ? The answer to this is , if (a) the patient suffers a lot due to standing prayers, or (b) there is a risk of the disease getting worse or (c) there is a risk of delay in getting rid of the disease, then it is permissible for him to offer the prayers while sitting. (Al-Majmoo 4/310 ; Tanvirul Absar 2/585) There is a tradition in Musannaf Abdur Razza in this regard- On the authority of Umar ibn Maimun ibn Mehran on the authority of Abiha he said: He said: If it were not possible for him to stay in this world , then he would have ruled according to 'Umar bin Maymoon. Narrated from his father , he was asked , what is the sign of sitting prayer for the patient ? He said , " When he cannot stand for his worldly work, he will sit down and pray." In short , the patient will determine his own condition , when it will be permissible for him to sit and pray. If there is extra difficulty due to standing or there is a risk of any loss, he will be able to sit and read. Now the question is , if a person is able to stand but is not able to bow and prostrate, then how will he perform the prayer ? In this case, the famous opinion of Hanafi jurisprudence is that such a person should sit down and bow and prostrate. It will no longer be obligatory for him to stand and pray. (Badayous Sanaye 1/107 ; Fatawa Hindiya 4/204 ; Fathul Qadir 1/460; Badayous Sanaye 1/107 ) As Addurrul Mukhtar has come in - وإن تعذرا) ليس تعذرهما شرطا بل تعذر السجد كاف الايماء قائما لقربه من الارض If a sick person is unable to perform ruku-sijdah ( it is not a condition of being unable to do both ruku and sijdah but it is sufficient to be unable to do sijdah). ( Due to the proximity of good ground . ' He will be able to sit in any position as per his convenience. It is not necessary for him to sit in any particular position. He will sit down . When a sick person sits down to pray , how will he sit down ? The pure opinion is that he will sit as it is (sitting) easy. ' (Fatawa Hindi 4/202) Now let's come , in answer to the main question. That is , is it permissible to pray in a chair ? The answer to this is that we hope that from the above discussion we have understood the following points : (2) The prayer of a person who prays in a chair for comfort or under the pretext of general distress will not be valid. (3) He who is able to stand and sit on the ground but is unable to bow and prostrate will perform the prayer standing. Just sit and bow and prostrate. If such a person sits in a chair and performs ruku-sijdah with gestures, it will be performed. (4) And the person who is able to stand but is not able to sit down will perform the prayer while standing, but during ruku , sijdah and sitting he will be able to perform while sitting in the chair and will do ruku and sijdah with gestures. (5) A person who is unable to stand but is able to sit down and prostrate, if he prostrates in a chair, his prayer will be considered void. It is necessary for him to sit down and prostrate on the ground. (6) A person who is not able to stand or sit in any of them will be able to perform the whole prayer while sitting in the chair. In short , the alternative method for a person who is unable to perform the prayer while standing is to perform it while sitting on the ground. And for those who are unable to do ruku sijdah, the alternative is to perform it by gestures. And for the person who is unable to perform the prayer sitting on the ground , the alternative is to perform the prayer sitting in the chair. It is not right to pray in a chair just because of the first and second excuses. So the person who is praying in a chair just for the sake of comfort or under the pretext of minor hardship is doing a big wrong thing. Praying in this way will not be his prayer. It is obligatory on him to perform the standing prayer and to perform the ruku sijdah according to the rules. And for a person who is able to perform the prayer sitting on the ground, it is not right for him to perform the prayer sitting in a chair on the sole pretext that he is unable to perform the prayer standing or bowing and prostrating. Rather, such people will sit on the ground and pray. Only those people who are unable to perform the prayer sitting on the ground will perform the prayer sitting in the chair. Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani Damat Barkatuhum in his recently written fatwa discussing the disadvantages of sitting in a chair and praying said : 1. For the people of Mazur, sitting on the ground and praying is the best and masnun method. On top of this, the deeds of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and the successors are coming. The custom of sitting in a chair and praying has just begun. Khairul Kurun has no precedent. But in that era, Mazur was also a chair. 2. It is not permissible for a person who is not a mazur in the eyes of the Shari'ah to perform the obligatory and obligatory prayers while sitting on the ground or in a chair . But sometimes it is seen that even such a healthy person gets a chair in front of him and prays while sitting in the chair. As a result, his prayers are not performed. 3. The use of chairs has caused many problems in straightening and straightening the Qatar. However, there is a strong emphasis in Hadith Sharif on standing together and straightening the Qatar. 4. Unnecessarily due to the abundance of chairs in the mosque, it resembles the church of the Nazarene and the synagogue of the Jews. They worship on chairs and benches in the church. And in matters of religion, the Jewish Nazarenes and other nations are forbidden. 5. Prayer is an act of worship which has to be performed with humility and devotion. And it is more complete in the middle of praying sitting on the ground than praying in a chair. . Some young and healthy people sit in chairs in the mosque after prayers and relax. Sometimes they sit in a circle with the chair and engage in conversation. It is against the sanctity , dignity and manners of the mosque. . Due to the use of chairs in the mosque, some of the knives violate the etiquette and etiquette of the Kareem and Murabbi prayers. ”After mentioning these seven aspects of the objection, the Prophet wrote : Use should be discouraged, and their use should be restricted to those who are unable to offer prayers while sitting on the ground . That is why I do not want to use chairs as much as possible to perform gestures. The use of chairs should be discouraged and its use should be restricted to those who are unable to perform prayers while sitting on the ground. And the worshiper sitting in the chair will straighten the Qatar by joining the shoulders of the others. Masala: Do not prostrate on any table , pillow or anything else in front of you while prostrating. Rather just point. On the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, may God be pleased with him , that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, came to me and prayed for him. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went to see a patient. She saw him prostrating on a pillow. He took it (pillow) and put it away. Then the man took a piece of wood to prostrate on it. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, threw it. And he said , "If you are able, prostrate on the ground, otherwise point." And your prostration will be more inclined than bowing. ' (Sunan Baihaqbi H 3484) Masala: Ruku in gesture will be more inclined than Ruku in Sijdah during Sijdah. (Sunan Baihaqbi H: 3484)
