Which of NH3 and HCl has higher prevalence rate and why ?

1 Answer

Answer :

By the rate of diffusion of an object, we mean how much the object has spread through any medium at any given time. The lower the density of an object, the lower the molecular mass, the higher the rate of diffusion. And the higher the molecular mass, the lower the diffusion rate. Between NH 3 and HCl the molecular mass of NH 3 ( 17) is less and HCl Its molecular mass ( 36.5) is high. Thus the rate of diffusion of NH 3 is higher than that of HCl .

Description : Why NH3 has a higher boiling point than CH4 and HCl?

Last Answer : Both NH3 and HCl exhibit hydrogen bonding as intermolecularforces, whereas CH4 does not. This makes CH4 have a lower boilingpoint. Since there are 3 hydrogen atoms in NH3 and only 1 inHCl(g), the intermolecular forces would be expected to be greaterin NH3 than in HCl.
